Military Memorials
Families or loved ones of Qualifying Veterans can go through the VA to receive one memorial item. There are a variety of options for these memorials and Tomah Granite can help you to install them.
The option we see most often at Tomah Granite is the VA Bronze. This can be a 12” x 24” large plaque, a 5.5” x 8.5” niche plaque, or a medallion. For either size of plaque, we can install it on an existing monument or slant by drilling into the back of the memorial and securing the bronze. The large plaque can also serve as the primary memorial in the cemetery for your loved one. We offer several options for this, including placing the bronze on a granite marker or bevel and setting it as we would any other memorial. We can also cast the bronze into a cement foundation and set the memorial flush with the ground, or we can mount the bronze on a cement cast marker or bevel and position the memorial a few inches above the ground. If you choose the medallion, it is often placed on the main surface (front or top) of an existing memorial, in place of a design near or above the veteran's name.
Another memorial option the VA provides is a stone memorial, which can be either a marker or an upright memorial. This memorial will be engraved by the VA, and Tomah Granite is available to assist with the setting of these stones in the cemetery.
